Professor Bharat Gwalani is an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University. He received his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree from the National Institute of Technology, Jaipur India in 2010 and his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in 2017, both in Materials Science and Engineering. After his B.E. he worked in the steel industry for three years. Before starting at NC State in 2022, in 2019 Gwalani joined the DOE’s office of science’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and served as a senior materials scientist.
His research focuses on a mechanistic understanding of material vulnerabilities under extreme environments, deformation-assisted modification of phase transformation pathways, and the development and characterization of advanced materials.
