Industry Partners
The Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (CAMAL) started in 2014 with the support of the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and NC State University. The center was born from ISE’s strong manufacturing tradition, a legacy that included a pre-eminent Furniture Manufacturing and Management Center and the groundbreaking Rapid Prototyping Lab. Strong manufacturing links combined with a globally-respected faculty gives us the background and skills to perform groundbreaking research.
Manufacturing
The Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (CAMAL) provides fabrication and prototyping services for both internal NC State projects and external customers on a limited basis. Polymer and metal-based additive technologies are also available.
All of our direct metal processing activities take place in our ITAR Compliant lab space, including any necessary cleaning/finishing operations.

Metallurgy
Dr. Harvey West has answered industry’s questions about design, construction, and reliability in the Metallurgy Laboratory. His lab houses state-of-the-art machines including several high-powered, digital microscopes.
West has conducted more than 1,000 tests for over 200 different companies. He is eager to work with your company to identify testing and evaluation opportunities that can help you improve your products and services.

Physical Testing
Dr. Harvey West has answered industry’s questions about design, construction, and reliability in the Physical Testing and Evaluation Laboratory. His lab houses four computer-controlled pneumatic flexible furniture testing frames and environmental chambers.
